If she holds that thought in her head, she'll have just that bit of energy to get this leaf done. Blinking slowly, she can feel the small waves of relief that overcome her when her eyelids close. Yet, to drift off now would be to prove Navy right that it was probably way past her bedtime.[break][break]

Somewhere in another room, the generator powers down. A soft hum ends in darkness. They’re alone in the dark. Elsewhere, there’s laughter.[break][break]
“Sheriff Navidson!” A voice calls out. “You’re gonna be our ticket to the big league and bigger bucks! You and a traitor to boot!”[break][break]
Other voices join in a chorus of laughter that sounds like hyena howls. More intruders. More rocket grunts, or maybe freelance mercenaries, join in on the laughing chorus.[break][break]
“Huh, so that’s how it is?” Navy asks the question like one of them wanted to borrow some tea. Nothing more. A brief flash of red leads into an explosion of light. Dragonslayer, an illumina Aegislash, lights up the room. It reveals four faces, all of them basking in stunned disbelief.[break][break]
“Yo, Eris. You got a flier on you?”

Many in Hoenn boast of their sword skills. They play at being knights or warriors, wielding Aegislash. Some do it for justice. Some to force their own brand of justice on the world. Whatever else divides them, the sword binds them.[break][break]
Navy is almost certain none of these great warriors have used their swords as he now uses Dragonslayer. Using his sygna suit to stabilize himself, he lands on the flat end of the blade. With Tormund clinging to him and howling his pleasure, the sheriff rides his Aegislash like the surfer bros around Dewford might ride a surfboard.[break][break]
“If they’re gonna mess with us, they better get ready to get absolutely radical!”

The floor becomes air. All at once, gravity reaches up and embraces all children of the earth. Though she'd been given warning, Eris still lets out a scream as it happens before her very eyes, the rush of wind nearly masking the buzz of electricity that Reiner gives off as he launches himself right after her. And right as he snags her by her clothes, he puts as much effort as he can into throwing her up before disappearing in a flash of red.[break][break]

And in his place, a disgruntled Salamence emerges, just barely catching Eris mid-fall as scaled wings beat against the descent. Panic crawls through every muscle and vein, her eye flicking from Teostra's wide back to Navy's (cringe-worthy) surfer moment. But as soon as she's granted a chance, she quite nearly throws herself off the dragon's back just to know of the Rockets' fate.[break][break]

Sure enough, they seem caught mid-air, still a decent ways from the ground but surely not enough to severely injure. Briefly, a pink glow surrounds their bodies as they float and flail helplessly. Then they're released, finishing up the rest of their fall with a series of unceremonious 'thumps'.[break][break]

Enemies or not, it still had to have hurt.

Any Rocket with an iota of wisdom knows attacking Navy in Dewford is foolish. Though no high-tech wizard, he knows the lay of the land. He knows the tunnels, and what prowls within them. He knows how to make their lives hell down below.[break][break]
Riding his Aegislash, the freefall turns into a wind ride. If Dragonslayer feels any displeasure at this unorthodox use of its blade, it doesn’t voice them to Navy. Perhaps, as a blade, it simply can’t voice displeasure. Navy supposes that’s good enough. Soaring down to the gym below, he lands on a gentle patch of rocks. The grunts are all stumbling about. They’re alive, well, in one piece.[break][break]
“Hey, guys!” Navy cheers, perched on his rock. “So, when there’s not a battle pitch down here, the gym’s in a, well, let’s call it a panic mode. Careful not to touch any of the landmines.” They’re not real landmines, but they’ll give anyone who touches them a shock. Some set off terrain. Others flamethrowers. Some trigger complicated illusions.[break][break]
Scattering, the grunts expected to be the hunters. Now, they’re the hunted. The worst part is that Navy isn’t even lifting a finger.[break][break]
“Maybe this’ll scare ‘em straight, huh?”

Looking Eris’s way, Navy tosses her a wink. While the grunts panic, in a mad rush to figure out what to do, he gives her a playful smile. Although there are traps under the gym, none are designed to be fatal to humans.[break][break]
They are, however, pretty funny when people run into them.[break][break]
One of the grunts decides to risk it. Screaming bloody murder, he charges off through the dark granite battlefield. With no care for his own life, he tries to risk it all on one breakneck dash.[break][break]
An explosion rocks the battlefield. Were this another man running the gym, the grunt might have exploded into a shower of gore. Under the sheriff’s careful eye, what bursts out and covers the grunt…[break][break]
…is grease. Very, very slippery grease. The friction in the man’s boots is forgotten. Slipping onto what his mother gave him, the man slides across the floor and hits one of the granite walls.[break][break]
“There’s more where that came from!” He laughs. Panic turns into confusion on the faces of the other grunts.

Navy simply does not move as a massive rock is thrown his way. Arms crossed, he looks at the flying rock with stoic, impassive confidence.[break][break]
It is stopped mere inches from his face. A golden, clawed hand grips the boulder. Navy’s lip curls into a hint of a smile. Arthur, his Kommo-O, timed that to perfection. His golden beast, the light that brings the dawn, winds up his arm like a baseball pitcher ready to throw the game-winning toss.[break][break]
The rock lands in a seemingly random patch of granite. Both trainers eye one another. Even the Steelix joins in, looking around like he’s expecting something to happen. These people underestimate him. This place has traps built into every nook and cranny for just such an occasion.[break][break]
Beneath Steelix is an explosion of steam and water. It speaks to the explosion’s power that it launches the steel snake up into the air, screaming a terrified cry. A geyser of high pressure water, filtered right from the sea, blasts him up. The Steelix falls, tumbling, screaming.[break][break]
Right into Arthur’s fire fist.[break][break]
Steelix soars like he weighs no more than a pidgey.
